THERE'S still time to get your entry in for an annual charity swimming event in Taunton taking place in a month.

Lots of people have already signed up to take part in the Taunton Soroptimist Swimathon at Taunton Prep School.

Hundreds of people will take to the pool on Saturday and Sunday, February 22 and 23, to raise funds for four good causes.

Organisations benefitting from sponsorship this year are the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, Reminiscence Learning, St Margaret's Hospice and Taunton Opportunity Group.

The event will see teams of up to six swimming 50 metres in relay for 53 minutes in whatever stroke takes your fancy.

It costs £10 per team to enter, with every swimmer receiving a medal and several trophies to compete for.

Christine Briggs, of Soroptimist International of Taunton, said: "It is a charity event where the emphasis is on having fun while raising lots of money."

Every penny raised by the swimmers will go to the chosen charities, with organisers hoping the amount raised will top £20,000.

Care Partnership South West has put up £500 to cover the cost of all the swimmers' medals.
