STAFF at a Taunton gym are going on two cycle marathons in a week in support of a local road safety charity.

You can go along to watch the static bike rides in Taunton town centre - and grab a few freebies while you're at it.

Workers at Anytime Fitness, based in the Orchard Shopping Centre, are spinning the pedals in aid of Think Amy, which aims to educate young motorists.

The first event is in partnership with Starbucks from 9am into the afternoon of Saturday, February 8, outside the coffee chain's cafe.

Anytime general manager Joe Matthews and gym employees will take it in turns covering hundreds of miles.

Everyone who donates to the sponsored cycle will receive a goodie bag containing gym passes, a free drink at Starbucks and Think Amy merchandise.

Anytime staff will be back on the bike the following Friday (February 14) for a similar fundraiser outside Bill's restaurant, whose staff will be giving away free juices made in-house.

Think Amy was set up by Jane Hofmeister following the death of her daughter Amy in June 2011.

Amy, who was 13, was hit by a speeding car driven by Leonard Jones, who was racing another car driven by his then girlfriend Leanne Burnell. The pair were both jailed for causing her death by dangerous driving.
