A HIGHBRIDGE student is celebrating after securing an offer of an apprenticeship at a top accountancy firm.

Jack Murphy, a sixth form student at The King Alfred School Academy, has received an offer of a Level 7 Accountancy apprenticeship on the prestigious Bishop Fleming Accountancy programme.

If he is successful Jack will gain the professional qualifications needed to become a qualified accountant (ACA) when he completes the apprenticeship.

Jonathan Gaskell, head of sixth form at The King Alfred School Academy, said Jack is a 'terrific' role model for his fellow sixth form students and is predicted to achieve three A* grades in his A levels this year.

He said:"Jack has particular strengths in Economics and Mathematics. Jack completed work experience with Bishop Fleming while he was in Year 12 and they were so impressed they invited him to participate in a rigorous interview process this month for this prestigious and sought-after Master's level apprenticeship in which he obviously excelled.

"Jack also completed work experience for James Heappey, member of parliament for the Wells Constituency and Parliamentary Under Secretary of State (Minister for the Armed Forces).

"Jack is thus becoming a well-known figure in our region and I predict that he has the potential and talent to make a mark at national level. We will miss him in the sixth form but he promised to return to inspire our younger students as we continue our 6th Form tradition of aiming for the very top."
