HIGHBRIDGE Foodbank will be delivering all food parcels to home address from next week.

Volunteers from the foodbank, which is based at Burnham-on-Sea Methodist Church, said the parcels will be delivered to people's homes from Tuesday (April 14) and food parcels can no longer be collected from the foodbank.

In a post on social media, a spokesperson for the foodbank, said they have made the change to reduce footfall in the town.

"From Tuesday, April 14 all our Foodbank parcels will be delivered to home addresses. This change is to reduce footfall in the town & at our centres, aid those in isolation & safeguard our volunteers." the spokesperson said.

"Food parcels can no longer be collected from any of our centres.

"Delivery will be on a Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday to coincide with our regular Foodbank days.

"If you need our support please contact a referral agency who will send us your details electronically, the parcel will be prepared & delivered by our volunteer drivers. Drivers are unable to bring food into your home.

"This is a temporary arrangement to help us continue to provide emergency food to those in financial crisis in our community.

"The centre at Hope Baptist in Highbridge will continue to open on a Thursday morning but all food parcels will be delivered from our Methodist Church centre in Burnham.

"Please see other posts or our website to see how to contact our local referral agencies."
