A GROUP of dedicated volunteers from a Highbridge hub have been doing their bit to support people in the community during lockdown.
Jane Macpherson, Project Development Manager at the Morland Community Hub, said a small team has been working on several projects to improve the day to day lives of those in isolation and staying at home.
These include:
- Supplying wool to local, elderly knitters, kindly donated by London charity 'Knit for Peace' for a relaxing activity to keep themselves occupied on long days.
-The 'Cuppa in a bag' incentive which is being given out free to elderly and isolated people. Recipients can enjoy a cup of tea and cake at home thanks to donations from Great Western Railway.
"We have received a donation of free IPads, working with the support of the Good Things Foundation charity to give out to vulnerable local people.
"Again, in turn to address their feelings of isolation and to help connect them with the larger world wide community.
"There are even more joint working projects in the immediate pipeline for the coming weeks ahead.
"The Morland Community Hub is looking forward to re-opening its doors to the community once again, as soon as it is safe for everyone to do so."
In the meantime, stay safe.
