A DEAD cow which washed up on Burnham-on-Sea beach has been recovered.
The cow carcass was found in the middle of a large patch of mud/soft sand on the beach earlier this week.
Sedgemoor District Council (SDC) said the cow carcass, which was in a decaying state, weighs in excess of 350 kg could only be moved by machinery.
"It could have been in the water for some time before being washed up at Burnham-on-Sea," a SDC spokesperson said.
The council said they worked with boat owners to get the carcass onto solid ground and disposed of it.
