WORK to repair the exterior of St Alkmund's church in Whitchurch has resumed and key jobs have now been completed.
Repairs began last September on the church with the main focus of repairs on the replacement of damaged sandstone on the walls and around the windows.
Work had been put on hold following the coronavirus lockdown, but this month the government eased restrictions on building sites, allowing work to resume.
Rev Judy Hunt says she is glad to see the work resume and various areas requiring special attention being completed.
"It’s good to have the work on the exterior of the church building making progress again," said Rev Judy.
"The stonemasons from Lloyd and Smith have been back for the last couple of weeks and those re-glazing the windows from Recclesia started back [Saturday].
"Also, the roof of the external southwest porch (main entrance) has been leaking for many years and that has now been sorted out."
