NETWORK Rail has announced that lines have re-opened following the earlier incident, but there will still be disruption to services.
A spokesman said: "Lines have been reopened following a person having been hit by a train in the Taunton area earlier today.
"Journey times may be extended by up to 60 minutes. Some trains will be cancelled or revised.
"Disruption is expected until 4pm."
RAIL services in Somerset have been disrupted after a person was hit by a train near Taunton.
Network Rail has issued the following statement: "A person has been hit by a train in the Taunton area. This has resulted in all lines being blocked.
"Trains are unable to run between Taunton and Castle Cary/Bridgwater.
"Some trains will be cancelled or diverted.
"Journey times may be extended by up to 60 minutes. Disruption is expected until 3.30pm.
