A COMMERCIAL building was evacuated after a fire broke out in an extraction system.

Fire crews were called to Cheddar Business Park, in Wedmore Road, Cheddar, at around 3pm yesterday afternoon (September 8).

An aerial appliance from Bridgwater was sent to the scene, along with crews from Cheddar, Wells and Burnham-on-Sea.

"Upon arrival crews confirmed all persons had evacuated and there was a fire within the extraction system," said a spokesperson from the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service.

"Crews used one hose reel jet and are removing the inspection plates to extinguish the fire in the saw dust extraction unit, all machinery and extraction system was isolated."

They put the fire out, the cause of which was accidental, the spokesperson added.
