GARY Anderson fell at the penultimate hurdle in his bid for a third Premier League Darts crown, in Coventry on Thursday night.

More than 250 days after the tournament began - being put on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic - Anderson was one of the four men left standing in the Premier League play-offs.

The Burnham-on-Sea resident faced Glen Durrant in the semi-finals, and while the match got off to a slow start, it was Durrant who claimed an early 5-2 advantage after a couple of breaks.

Anderson finally found some form to hit 124 and stay in touch, before Durrant missed a dart for a 7-3 lead, and suddenly it was the Scot who had momentum and a 9-7 advantage.

But, just when Anderson looked on the brink of reaching the final, Durrant came back and forced the tense match into a deciding leg, where the man from Middlesbrough profited from Anderson's four missed match darts and clinched a 10-9 victory.

Durrant went on to win the final, beating Nathan Aspinall 11-8 to claim the Premier League title and £250,000 in prize money.
