TWO people had to be cut free from the wreckage following a three-vehicle crash.

Emergency crews attended the incident in Love Lane, Burnham-on-Sea at 7.46pm yesterday (Friday).

Fire crews from Burnham and a rescue tender from Taunton were sent after police reported the collision "with persons trapped".

A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "On arrival at the incident the crews found a three-vehicle road traffic collision with one person trapped within two of the vehicles.

"The third vehicle all persons were free and clear before arrival of the fire service."

Both casualties were removed from the vehicles and taken to hospital by land ambulance.

The spokesperson added: "Crews have used environmental pads to stem oil from the vehicles to prevent them entering any water ways."

The road remained closed for some time and the incident was left in the hands of the police
