ANOTHER five people have died in Somerset after contracting Covid-19 in the latest 24 hours.

The Government has just released figures showing three people with the virus died in South Somerset, with two dying in Mendip.

There were no coronavirus-related deaths in Sedgemoor or Somerset West and Taunton.

The total number of people who have died within 28 days of being tested positive for Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic has reached 64 in Sedgemoor, 49 in South Somerset, 43 in SWT and 28 in Mendip.

Overall, the county council area of Somerset has recorded 184 Covid-related deaths since the start of the pandemic.
