THE creative team at The Princess Theatre and Arts Centre have released a series of online workshops to help with home-schooling.

The workshops are delivered by artist, costume and theatre designers Catherine Hawkridge, who has worked for ITV, Aardman Animation and the Royal Opera House.

Three art workshops are aimed at year 5 and 6 children, and are hosted on The Princess Theatre's Youtube channel.

β€œThe reaction from teachers and school children and it is great when we receive pictures of finished work," said Cllr Louise Parkin, chair of the Princess Management Committee.

"We are committed to assisting schools locally with a cultural and creative education programme at the Princess, now and in the future.”

Beccy Armory, who leads the artistic team at the Burnham-on-Sea theatre, said it was "important" to help families and teachers keep children engaged with learning.

"So we decided to use our links with incredible practitioners and create online classes that meant something to our community," she said.

"We are now working hard on an online spoken word and poetry workshop with CBBC regular, Chris Redmond, and there are more plans ahead at the Princess education wise.”

To take part in the workshops visit The Princess Theatre's YouTube channel.

The theatre would also like to see pictures of the children's work after the workshops.
