Latest tragic death toll in Somerset
SOMERSET has experienced its worst day since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic after 19 people tragically died in one day.
The hardest hit district was Somerset West and Taunton, where nine people who had tested positive for the virus lost their lives in the latest 24-hour period.
A further five people passed away in Mendip.
Three died in Sedgemoor and two in South Somerset.
The figures come the day after five people died in SWT and four in Mendip.
The overall total of deaths from any cause of people within 28 days of testing positive for the coronavirus has risen to 416 since the start of the pandemic.
Of those, 116 deaths have been recorded in South Somersetl 96 in SWT; 100 in Sedgemoor; and 104 in Mendip.
