THE number of positive Covid-19 tests in Somerset in the latest 24-hour figures was 136.

Of those, there were 44 in South Somerset, which has now seen 4,627 confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic.

Somerset West and Taunton also had 44 new confirmed cases, giving it an overall total of 5,361.

Sedgemoor saw 37 positive tests, taking its total since the start of the pandemic to 4,540.

And Mendip had 11 new confirmed cases for an overall total of 2,999.

The rate of infection was slightly down in two districts and up in the other two.

South Somerset's rate of infection based on the latest seven-day rolling figure is 175.2 per 100,000 people (up from 167.5 the previous day).

SWT's rate is 243 per 100,000, down from 247.6.

Sedgemoor stands at 198.1 (up from 187.5).

And Mendip is at 153.1 (down from 154).
