SOMERSET recorded a further three Covid-related deaths in the latest 24-hour period.

All the people who died were in Sedgemoor, the district in the county council area with the least number of deaths associated with the virus.

It means that 596 people have now died from any cause within 28 days of testing positive for the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic.

The total number of Covid-related deaths in each district are 140 in South Somerset; 179 in Somerset West and Taunton; 136 in Sedgemoor; and 141 in Mendip.

The death rates per 100,000 people in each district are 83.2 in South Somerset; 115.4 in Somerset West and Taunton; 110.4 in Sedgemoor; and 122 in Mendip.
