ALMOST two-thirds of the new confirmed Covid-19 cases reported in Somerset in the latest 24-hour period were in one district.
South Somerset saw 20 positive tests in a day, while there were just 13 in the rest of the county council area.
Of those, five were in Somerset West and Taunton and four each in Sedgemoor and Mendip.
The overall totals since the start of the pandemic are:
- South Somerset 5,040;
- SWT 5,807;
- Sedgemoor 5,072;
- Mendip 3,294.
Somerset has now seen a total of 19,213 confirmed cases of the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic.
The infection rates based on the seven-day rolling figures have shown a slight fluctuation;
- South Somerset 40.4 cases per 100,000 of population (up from 37.4 the previous day);
- SWT 36.7 (down from 38.7);
- Sedgemoor 63.3 (down from 73.1);
- Mendip 46.7 up from 45.9).
There was one death from any cause of a person who had tested positive for Covid-19 within the last 28 days in Somerset - that was in Mendip.
The total number of deaths since the start of the pandemic in the county is now 679, with the district totals:
- South Somerest 148;
- SWT 200;
- Sedgemoor 152;
- Mendip 159.
