ARTISTS in Burnham-on-Sea are being offered a space to work thanks to a photography duo who created The Brickworks Studio last October.

The studio in Victoria Court, Victoria Street, has been created by Jacob Dear and George Manchip, two Burnham based photographers.

It is set to re-open its doors on April 1 after the coronavirus lockdown - but not for an exhibition.

The duo have decided to offer a co-operative desk/art space for artists in the town.

"Although we absolutely love running exhibitions and workshops, we have decided to take The Brickworks Studio in a new direction," said Jacob.

"We have taken the time during the third lockdown to research different ways we could better build a community of artist here in Burnham-On-Sea.

"And so The Brickworks Studio will be the first co-work arts space in Burnham-on-Sea dedicated to providing space for artists to create on a daily basis.

"Think of it as a new hub for artists to research, develop and most importantly - create."

The studio has printers, book making facilities, podcasting space and more.

Artists can rent desk spaces for £138 a month.

The project has been supported by The Princess Theatre and Arts Centre as well as a few other sponsors as well as a £2,500 grant from Burnham and Highbridge Town Council.

"Working closely with our partners at The Princess Theatre and Arts Centre and our sponsor s.print cmyk, we are incredibly excited to offer this space and the creative capabilities to three individuals who want to move in," added Jacob.

If you are interested in using the space, contact George or Jacob by emailing thebrickworksstudio@gmail.com or call 07528816688.
