THERE are two candidates for the upcoming Burnham-on-Sea by-election, which will see the winner take their place on the town council.

Voters in the Burnham Central Town Ward will be able to choose between Julie Flurry (Conservative Party) and Ganesh Gudka (Liberal Democrats) when they cast their ballots on Thursday, May 6, 2021.

Residents are urged to register to vote - and can do so online here - by the deadline of midnight on Monday, April 19, to ensure that they can have their say at the polls.

Polling cards will give voters details of which polling station they need to attend on May 6, between 7am and 10pm.

As well as voting in person at a polling station, residents also have the options of voting by post or by proxy (appointing someone to vote on their behalf).

The deadline for applying for a postal vote is Tuesday, April 20 (5pm) and for a proxy vote it's Tuesday, April 27 (5pm).
