BURNHAM-ON-SEA Library has opened its doors for the first time since the latest Covid-19 lockdown began, as part of the next phase in the easing of restrictions from Monday (April 12).

Library users can attend once more, with normal opening hours in place, to browse books and collect reserved items.

The opening hours for Burnham's library are:

  • Monday, 10am to 5pm
  • Tuesday, 10am to 5pm
  • Wednesday, 10am to 1pm
  • Thursday, 10am to 5pm
  • Friday, 10am to 5pm
  • Saturday, 10am to 1pm

A spokesperson for the library, which is based on Princess Street in the town centre, said: "Although there will still be some limits on numbers, you will be able to come in and choose your own books again - we have had lots of new books delivered and would like to see our shelves and displays emptying!

"Staff have also been busy re-organising our children’s section to improve browsing and accessibility.

"More computer sessions will also be available, along with printing and copying.

"We are really looking forward to welcoming you back."

As many library users will not have attended in quite some time, they are encouraged to check whether their memberships are still active.

To do this, you can use the membership checker service here, call 0300 123 2224 or visit the library itself, where staff will be able to assist.
