A STRING of thefts from town centre shops in Burnham-on-Sea have seen a charity collection box and till money being stolen in the latest incidents.

The thieves struck last Friday, April 16, and police have appealed for information.

The first incident occurred at Burnham Shopping Centre, in the High Street, with a Cancer Research collection box full of coins being stolen.

The theft is believed to have happened shortly before 9.30am on Friday morning, with the suspect described by police as being male, white, about 5ft 10ins and of an average build, and wearing a grey or green hooded top, blue jeans and black trainers.

Anyone with information which could assist the police is asked to contact the police via its website or by calling 101, quoting reference number 5221081162.

In a second, separate incident, a man entered Dusicake - a cake shop located on the corner of Abingdon Street and Oxford Street - and stole more than £50 from the till.

Police were called to this incident just after 3pm, and have asked anyone with information which could identify the thief to call 101, using the reference number 5221081412.
