A PROLIFIC thief has been jailed for more than six months for a string of shoplifting offences.

Daniel Andrew Westcott, 30, who gave his address as a homeless hostel in Taunton, was sent down at Taunton Magistrates' Court after pleading guilty to four offences.

He was sent to prison for a total of eight weeks for the thefts from Tesco, Tesco Express and Boots.

Westcott received a further 20 weeks after admitting breaching a suspended sentence order imposed for eight theft offences.

He was also ordered to pay £475.15 compensation and a £128 victim surcharge.

A SEX offender who failed to comply with a notification order was given a £195 fine.

John Jurgensen, 49, of White Hart Lane, Wellington, who pleaded guilty, was also ordered to pay a £34 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

MOTORIST Simon Wayne Fellows admitted failing to give a blood specimen when suspected of having driven and committed an offence.

Fellows, 41, of Gulliford Close, Highbridge, was fined £230 with a £34 victim surcharge and £85 costs and was given as 12-month driving ban.

A BURGLAR who stole clothing from Bambino and More received a community order and an eight-week curfew.

Matthew Gray, 34, of Eastbourne Road, Taunton, was ordered to pay £300 compensation, along with a £95 victim surcharge and £85 costs after admitting the offence.

GRAY'S partner in crime, John Small, 40, of Redball Cottages, Burlescome, pleaded guilty to jointly stealing the items.

Small was also given a community order and ordered to carry out 40 hours unpaid work.

He must pay £300 compensation, a £95 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

JUSTIN Mark Burt, 47, of Pilgrims Way, Pawlett, pleaded guilty to using threatening or abusive words or behaviour in Highbridge on Christmas Eve.

He was fined £100 with a £35 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

He also admitted driving without due care and attention on Burnham Road, Highbridge, on the same day.

That earned him a further £250 fine and seven penalty points on his licence.

There was no separate penalty for failing to stop when required to do so by a police officer.

KIARA Malik, 18, of Stowers Row, Martock, was given a three-month conditional discharge after pleading guilty to possession of cannabis.

She was ordered to pay a £22 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

Luke Paul Anderson, 36, of Benedict Street, Glastonbury, was detained in the courthouse after pleading guilty to being drunk and disorderly and failing to surrender to bail.

STEPHEN Patrick Connell, 34, of Trinity Road, Weston-super-Mare, stole a bottle of port and two bottles of champagne.

He was ordered to pay £69.98 compensation after admitted two counts of theft.

He also stole multiple meat products from Tesco and was fined £120 with a £34 victim surcharge.
