A BANNED driver caught using a moped on the road has been given a suspended prison sentence.

Igoris Kristinaitisc, 37, of Church Street, Bridgwater, admitted the offence committed in the town's Taunton Road on May 12 last year when he appeared at Taunton Magistrates' Court.

He was handed a 16 week suspended prison jail sentence and ordered to carry out 40 hours' unpaid work.

Kristinaitisc also pleaded guilty to using the moped without insurance, for which he was fined £100, and to fraudulently using a registration mark, which earned him a £200 fine.

He received another 16 weeks sentence (concurrent) suspended for 12 months for drug driving, which attracted a £128 victim surcharge and £85 costs, as well as a five year driving ban.

He was fined £50 for failing to surrender to custody, but no separate penalty for driving a moped with an MOT.

NO action was taken against Ioan Jan Herta, 45, of Taunton Road, Bridgwater, after he admitted failing to comply with a community order, but he was ordered to pay £60 costs.

EWILINA Czerniak, 35, of Victoria Gate, Taunton, was handed six penalty points on her licence after pleading guilty to driving without insurance in the town on February 5, 2019.

She was also fined £150, along with a £30 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

A MOTORIST admitted driving at 101mph on the 70mph limit A303 dual carriageway near Wincanton on June 24 last year.

Martin Davies, 52, of Belle Vue Terrace, Fons George, Taunton, was given six penalty points and fined £600, with a £60 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
