CUSTOMERS returning to the pub in Somerset today might find it harder to find a seat than people in other parts of the country.
According to research by money.co.uk two of the county's districts are in the top six locations in the country when it comes to 'people per pub'.
Which means there should be more space indoors than in other areas, which is good news for customers, who can sit at tables from today with the easing of lockdown.
The two Somerset districts with the most pubs per people are Mendip, which comes in fifth nationally, followed closely by Sedgemoor.
According to the research, Mendip has 120 pubs serving a population of 115,587 - that's 897 people per pub.
And Sedgemoor also has 120 pubs for its population of 123,178 - equating to 1,026 people per pub
Top of the list is Scarborough, with 170 pubs for its population of 108,757 (640 people per pub), with South Lakeland second with 140 pubs for 105,088 people (751 per pub), while third-placed East Lindsey has 160 pubs for 141,727 people (885 per pub).
