UPDATE: Traffic is now flowing freely.

THERE are delays of 60 minutes on the M5 motorway after a crash earlier this afternoon (June 6).

Highways England has said there is 4.5miles of congestion between junction 22 (Burnham-on-Sea) and junction 21 (Weston-super-Mare).

They attended a traffic collision with a vehicle in lane three around 1pm and had to temporarily close all lanes.

The vehicle has now been removed and all lanes are running, but there is still heavy traffic.

"There are delays of 60 minutes on the M5 northbound between J22 and J21 in Somerset," said a spokesperson for Highways England.

"This is due to an earlier road traffic collision that resulted in the carriageway becoming blocked.

"Emergency services are in attendance and the vehicles have now been moved and the road is open."
