A WOMAN from Burnham-on-Sea shaved her head and raised more than £1,000 in memory of her daughter, who died last year at just 44-years-old.
Annie Bubb, 72, headed to the St Margaret’s clothes shop in Burnham-on-Sea on Monday (August 2), to raise money for the charity.
Annie, who is a volunteer for St Margaret’s Hospice, had her head shaved by Emma Snook from Unique Hair and Beauty.
Hazel, Annie’s daughter, suffered from a brain tumour and was cared for by St Margaret’s Hospice staff in Taunton.
She stayed at the hospice for five months before she passed away in February last year.
And so Annie decided to organised a charity headshave for the hospice.
“It felt really good to have my head shaved for St Margaret’s Hospice in Hazel’s memory,” she said.
“I feel unbelievably grateful to everyone who has supported me and donated.
“I can’t believe I’ve managed to raise £1,000 for the hospice.
“It’s wonderful to know that every penny I’ve raised will go towards helping St Margaret’s care for more people like Hazel.
“I would encourage anyone who is thinking of taking on a new challenge to raise money for St Margaret’s as they do such amazing work.”
Matt’s (Hazel’s partner) son, Riley, presented Annie with some flowers donated by Rosemary’s Florist.
“Riley and I are so proud of Annie for doing this charity head shave in Hazel’s memory,” added Matt.
“Her GoFundMe page has raised £315, and she’s collected a lot of donations which is amazing.
“She’s done a wonderful thing for a brilliant charity.”
The Burnham-on-Sea shop also provided tea and cake to celebrate the head shave.
