A SOMERSET teenager is among the fastest triathletes IN THE COUNTRY for her age group.

Macy Noad, a Year 10 student at the The King Alfred School Academy (TKASA) in Highbridge, achieved the feat after picking up a silver medal in the national British Triathlon Grand Finals.

The result at Mallory Park puts her in the top 25 triathletes in her age range in the country.

This week, Macy was pictured in front of a giant image of Olympic heptathlon champion Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill at TKASA, the school's 40-foot, inspirational tribute.

In the finals, Macy came out of the Swim in 9th place, picked her way through the field on the bike, before running herself into second place to claim the silver.

Going into the national Inter Regional Championships at Mallory Park, Macy was ranked as the top south west athlete.

“I felt confident going into the final as training this year had gone well leading up to this event,” she said.

“I put together a strong swim in 4min 27 sec, and a fast first transition set up a fast bike section in 4min 15 sec. I ran the 4th fastest time of the day to bring me home in second place over all!”

Macy attributed her success to the support and guidance of her local coaches Martin Rogers, Sara Dykes and Simon Prior, plus the continued support of Burnham Swim and Sports Academy.

Principal at TKASA, Dan Milford, said: “Macy has already achieved incredible success in the Triathlon.

"She is also a humble, dedicated and superb student who will go far.”

Macy is one of many TKASA students to thrive in athletics.

Former student Luke Prior achieved his England international vest and was also selected to join Team GB at the World Cross Championships in Kampala.
