A PLOT of land in Highbridge has sold at auction for £206,000 - around 20 times its estimated value.
The amenity land on the north side of Market Street was sold for a sum considerably in excess of its freehold guide price of £11,000 to £15,000.
Senior auction appraiser Audrey Smith, of regional land and property auctioneers Clive Emerson, said: "There was strong bidding for this land.
“With gated access, its location on a corner near homes and shops proved attractive to bidders.
“The new owner has a range of options, clearly including some form of residential development subject to the necessary consents.”
