AFTER hearing about the tragic murder of Sarah Everard, one woman from Somerset decided she wanted to do her bit to help women at night.

Daniela Moulton, 31, from Cheddar, owns a dog training company called Dani's Balanced Dogs.

Once a month she runs a 'pack walk', a free social club for dog owners.

After learning about what happened to Sarah Everard, Daniela decided she wanted to do something for the women in Somerset.

Armed officer Wayne Couzens used his police issue handcuffs and warrant card to stage the fake arrest of 33-year-old Ms Everard before he raped and murdered her earlier this year.

And so Daniela decided to start a regular pack walk on Monday evenings, just for women and their dogs, or just women on their own.

She wanted to give women the chance to walk their dogs after work on a dark winter evening, without being afraid to go out on their own.

"When I heard the news about Sarah Everard, I was so angry and it brought me to tears, I felt so helpless and I wanted to be able to do something," she said.

"As the clocks have gone back and the nights are darker, many women who have to walk their dogs in the dark are worried about doing so.

"So now, every Monday night, I will be outside The Bath Arms in Cheddar for anyone who wants to walk with me.

"And if I get enough interest to start walks in other local villages too then I will.

"My aim is to bring women together to talk about this violence against women and girls and give people a place to talk freely about their fears.

"After the difficult year we have had, it is important to bring communities together."

Daniela used to work in sports sponsorship until three years ago, when she decided to retrain and work with dogs. But during her time in sports sponsorship, Daniela lived in London and used to walk the road where Ms Everard was taken.

"I am not going to change the world, but I do have a network for people with dogs," Daniela added.

"If one dog now gets to go on an awesome walk that night - well that's amazing."
