A WOMAN from Winscombe has raised nearly £1,000 for Mind by walking 3,653.99 miles last year.

Amanda Baldwin, 47, undertook her challenge through a series of long walks every month in 2021, which saw her hike at locations including Cheddar Gorge, Yatton, and the Strawberry Line, a nine-mile former railway route.

Her record mile count for a month was 345 miles.

Amanda, a care worker and mobile beautician, said: "Ebbor Gorge was a killer, but it was all worth it and I wanted to help Mind in Somerset as they do a great job for people with mental health problems.

"The lockdowns have meant that loads of people have not seen friends or had family visiting.

"And last year when I did the walk, they hadn’t been out for months on end which caused depression and loneliness."

Vicky Poole, fundraising manager at Mind in Somerset, said: "Amanda’s a star!

"We’re so grateful to her for her mammoth walk and all the money she’s raised for us.

"It’s a truly wonderful achievement."
