A VACANT supported living home in Somerset has been sold to a charity.

Business property adviser Christie & Co has announced the sale of Homeward, in Weston-super-Mare to Freeways, which provides residential accommodation for adults with learning disabilities.

Homeward, which consists of 20 bedrooms over two interconnecting three-storey properties with a purpose-built extension to the rear, was originally a pair of Edwardian semi-detached houses.

The properties span 21 to 23 Trewartha Park and were part of a care home portfolio that had bene family-run for more than 50 years and is the final home to be sold, allowing allow previous owners, Carol and Gillian, to retire from the sector.

Previous owner Carol Hinks said: "I'm sad to see Homeward go but it couldn't have gone to better people.

"The work that Freeways is doing is very valuable and I trust they are able to really feel at home here.”

Operations manager at Freeways Jacinta O’Shea said: “Freeways Trust is delighted to have secured Homeward, 21-23 Trewartha Park.

"The property is in a great location and will help the charity to provide much needed high-quality accommodation for existing and future clients in the area.”

Oliver McCarthy, associate director – care at Christie & Co, who handled the sale, said: “After selling Earlfield Lodge for Carol and Gillian last year, we were pleased to be asked to sell the pair’s final home, Homeward, to allow them to retire.

"Following a full and open marketing campaign, we received multiple offers from local, regional, and national providers.

"We look forward to seeing Freeways bring this brilliant, closed supported living home back to life.”

Homeward was sold for an undisclosed price.
