LIFEBOAT volunteers joined RNLI Easter Sunday open day.

The event, which took place between 10am and 4 pm, was the ideal way for interested members of the public to view the hi-tech life-saving equipment in regular use at Burnham-on-Sea.

Mike Lang, RNLI press officer, said: “The success of the event was virtually guaranteed by the amazing Easter sunshine, and the ensuing holiday atmosphere.

“Visitors to the lifeboat station talked with crew, examined the lifeboats at close quarters, and purchased lifeboat souvenirs from the popup lifeboat shop gazebos.

“Additional attractions included the water safety advisers table, beach lifeguards, tombolas, and a well-stocked raffle.

“Visiting children could be greeted by our own Stormy Stan mascot, also an added attraction for some of the ladies.

“Musical entertainment was supplied by popular sea shanty group, the Barnacle Bouys, who performed several sets during the day.”
