RNLI volunteer crews launched lifeboats to conduct a search for a missing person.

The search covered Brean and Berrow overnight between July 4 and July 5 and RNLI said they were “relieved” to hear the individual was “found safe and well”.

A message from RNLI Lifeboats at Burnham-on- Sea read: “Just after midnight, crew pagers sounded as we were tasked alongside our colleagues from Burnham Coastguard Rescue Team and BARB Search & Rescue - Burnham-on-Sea hovercraft to reports of a missing person.

“Our volunteer crew launched both the Atlantic 85 and D-class to conduct a shoreline search covering Brean and Berrow, using Onboard Night vision, Infra-red, high power search lights, and illumination flares.

“After completing a thorough search of the area, we were stood down by MilfordHaven Coastguard and recovered both Inshore lifeboats for wash down and made ready for service once again.

“All at the station were relieved this morning to hear the individual has since been found safe and well.

“This was a multi-agency operation, working closely with our colleagues at BARB, Burnham Coastguard, Weston-Super-Mare Coastguard Rescue Team and Avon & Somerset Police who like the RNLI are proud to be on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week when the call comes in.”
