LOCAL dog owners benefitted from a training walk for their pooches at Burnham's Apex Park on Sunday, September 4.

Natural Balance Dog Training's Pack Walk was held to encourage skittish dogs to learn to co-exist with other pups and people.

The company's Burnham training walks are led by Courtney Byrne, and the company holds sessions across the south of England.

A spokesperson said: “At Natural Balance, we completely understand the difficulties people can face when going out and about with their dogs.

“Whether that be having a nervous and reactive dog, a dog with aggression issues, overly excitable behaviour, and so on.

“For that reason, we run pack walks hosted by our trainers for people who are training their dogs to be able to coexist in a healthy way around other people and dogs.

“We are there and on-hand to address specific issues in a real-world environment and to ensure everything is handled in a safe and effective way.

“A lot of the time, dogs just need a bit more exposure to these sorts of situations, but in a setting where no owner or dog is judged for the problems they are facing and are supported by both our trainers and fellow clients on the walks.

“In our eyes, there is no such thing as a ‘bad dog’, just a dog and owner who need help.”

The walk lasted for around an hour and a half and consisted of a period of relaxed socialisation walking and confidence-building training exercises.
