YOUNG people living in Burnham and Highbridge who make the town a better place through their positive actions will be recognised by the mayor.

Cllr Lesley Millard will host a Celebration of Youth event at The King Alfred School Academy on Saturday, October 15.

Awards will be handed out to young people across three categories and two age groups at the celebration.

A spokesperson for Burnham & Highbridge Town Council said: “We would like to encourage nominations of worthy young people in the three different categories: Leadership, giving peer support, and raising awareness of climate and ecological change.

“There are two age groups for each category: Under 11s and also 11-18.

“Any nominations sent in would benefit from an informative reason for the award explaining why that person is worthy of the award.

“We look forward to seeing lots of you at the event where there will also be stalls/opportunities to showcase activities on offer to the younger members of our society.”

To nominate a young person, email admin.burnham-highbridge-tc.gov.uk with their name, the award category, their age, and an explanation of why they deserve to win.

Nominations close on Wednesday, October 12.

Organisers of clubs or youth groups who would like to promote themselves at the event should email admin@burnham-highbridge-tc.gov.uk to book a space.
