A FESTIVE shopping event that raises money for a breast cancer charity will return to Berrow later this month.

Somerset Breast Cancer Now's ‘Shop for a Cure for Christmas’ fundraiser will be held at Berrow Village Hall on Sunday, November 20.

Stallholders will be at the village hall between 10.30am and 2pm, and there will be a charity raffle and tombola, plus bacon rolls and homemade cakes.

Products on offer will include cards, jewellery, ceramic and glass decorations, fine art prints and other gifts.

Somerset Breast Cancer Now was founded by Christine Piper more than 20 years ago after she survived the disease.

Christine sadly passed away from breast cancer in 2016. Her daughter, Holly MacBeth, has taken on the chairperson role to continue her legacy.

Holly said: “The event will host a variety of stalls perfect for looking for those unique, special Christmas gifts or even just a treat for yourself.

“From painting your own piece of pottery, which is always a hit with the children, to jewellery, homemade cakes, crafts, handcrafted items and so much more.

“We use local stall holders and pride ourselves on supporting local businesses especially who have equally been affected in these trying times.

“We will also have DJ Dave from Sedgemoor FM there on the day who is always a huge supporter of ours.”

Last year's festive fundraiser raised £1,357.87 for Breast Cancer Now.

In October, the charity held a successful ladies' night at The Tavern, Brean Leisure Park, which raised £3,418.

Breast Cancer Now focuses on four areas of research: Risk and prevention, early detection and diagnosis, treatment, and secondary breast cancer.

The charity aims to make sure that everyone with breast cancer lives, and lives well, by 2050.

It became the UK's most comprehensive breast cancer charity in 2019 when it merged with Breast Cancer Care.
