BRACE yourself for more heavy rain and strong winds across Somerset tomorrow (Wednesday, November 23).

The Met Office has issued a yellow rain and wind warning for the whole of the county and the rest of the South West and parts of South Wales.

The warning is in place from 3am until 8am.

The Met Office says there will be "a short spell of heavy rain and gusty winds" which could lead to "some travel disruption".

Here's what to expect:

  • Spray and surface water on roads, probably making journey times longer;
  • Bus and train services probably affected with journey times taking longer;
  • Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely;
  • Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely;
  • Some short-term loss of power and other services is possible, with perhaps a few tree branches down too.

Things will get better as the day continues, with sunshine and showers for the rest of the day, although it will remain breezy.

We can expect another band of heavy rain and strong winds on Thursday.

Friday looks likely to be drier and calmer, but the heavy rain and strong winds are forecast to return on Saturday.
