Discount supermarket chains Lidl and Aldi have issued warnings to customers after a number of products were found to be unsafe to eat.

The Food Standards Agency shared the companies' statements, saying "do not eat" and instead to return the items for a full refund.

A batch of Lidl's 'Simply' range of grated cheddar cheese has been recalled after pieces of metal were found.

This makes it unsafe to eat and customers have been urged to return the item to the nearest store for a full refund.

Aldi has warned customers its Gianni's Milk Chocolate ice creams may not be safe to eat for some people.

A packaging error has meant some boxes may contain Gianni's almond lollies, making the product dangerous for people with nut allergies.

Customers should not eat the product and return the item for a full refund.
