THE North Somerset branch of the RSPCA raised over £900 in support of its animal rescue centre in Brent Knoll at its Christmas fayre.

The Christmas fayre, held at Berrow Village Hall on Saturday, November 26, was only the second event of this type held by the local RSPCA branch.

Visitors could buy new and donated goods including the RSPCA's own Christmas cards and bespoke 2023 calendars.

Branch fundraiser Dawn Pawlett said: “Without the support of our volunteers, we would not be able to put on these community events, so a huge thank you goes out to everyone who helped on the day and made it all happen.

“We would also like to thank everyone who came along and supported the event, it is very much appreciated.”

The RSPCA North Somerset Branch is a separately registered charity from the national RSPCA and relies mainly on community support to fund its animal centre.

Its animal welfare work and rehoming aims to help people in need with the care of their animals.

The branch supports local RSPCA inspectors by providing funds for the emergency treatment and accommodation of animals when they have been mistreated or abandoned, or if their owners are no longer able to care for them.
