A MAN from Burnham-on-Sea has been given a conditional discharge after being found in possession of cannabis in Highbridge.
Mitchell Irving, of Adam Street, had 0.7 grams of cannabis – a class B drug – in his possession on Tuesday, March 14, 2023.
The 26-year-old indicated a plea of guilty when he appeared at Taunton Magistrates' Court on Thursday, September 28.
He was given a conditional discharge of six months, meaning he has been released with the offence registered on his criminal record.
No further action will be taken against him unless he commits another offence within the six-month period decided by the court.
An order was made for the cannabis to be forfeited and destroyed.
Irving also admitted driving a BMW without insurance and “otherwise than in accordance with a licence” on the same day (March 14).
For driving without insurance, he received a one-year driving ban and was fined £330.
He was also ordered to pay a £132 victim surcharge and £85 in costs.
He received no separate penalty for the licence offence.
