JUST last week, Highbridge and Burnham-on-Sea Carnival set up a crowdfunding page to raise money for next year's carnival.
As of today, the fundraiser target of £500 has been met thanks to over £700 worth of donations from carnival-keen locals.
A spokesperson for Highbridge and Burnham-on-Sea Carnival said: "We are overwhelmed by the support we have received, smashing our original £500 target and we can’t thank you enough!
"We aren’t far off doubling our original target, this is certainly going to help toward the running costs and future of Highbridge & Burnham On Sea Carnival."
Information on the JustGiving page revealed that the local carnival costs thousands of pounds every year to organise.
Prize money given to winning entrants makes up some of this number.
However, donations from the public have kept the carnival alive in Burnham and Highbridge, and this year is no different, as the locals have well and truly proven their love for carnival.
