THE Environment Agency has this afternoon (Friday, November 10) issued a flood alert for East Somerset rivers.
The area covered by the flood alert includes the Rivers Brue, Sheppey, Glastonbury Millstream and North and South Drains.
People in the area are advised to:
- monitor local water levels and weather conditions.
- avoid using low lying footpaths or entering areas prone to flooding.
- start acting on your flood plan if you have one.
Environment Agency flood warning officers set the river or tidal levels that have triggered this message.
Flood alerts are also in place in an area stretching from Burnham-on-Sea to the Bridgwater area and around the River Tone.
There is a flood warning between East Lyng and Creech St Michael.
