PLANS submitted to Somerset Council to attain permission to demolish a garage and build five new homes in its place near Bridgwater have been successful.

Duncliffe Homes Ltd applied in February 2023 to build the new dwellings at Lovens Farm, Petherton Road, in North Newton.

The plans were approved by Somerset Council on July 13, 2023.

However, a recent application seeks further permission to add a first floor window to the east elevation of the development, increase the size of a first floor window on the south elevation, and the add a rooflight to the rear elevation.

The site of the approved development is accessed via a private driveway onto Petherton Road from Lovens Farm.

The site totalling three-acres will be made up of three four-bed detached houses and two two-bed semi detached houses, as well as three double-detached garages.

North Petherton Town Council initially objected to the plans, on the grounds that 'the visibility splay as proposed is inappropriate and to concur the Highways authority agreement.'

However, the town council later agreed to withdraw the objection providing the Highways Authority was satisfied with revisions to the plans, and that suggested conditions were applied.
