A FAMILY-RUN Somerset business has taken over a popular florist's based in Burnham-on-Sea.

Rosemary's, located at 5 Regent Street, will soon become the second branch of Bouquet Florist Somerset, a business run by mother and daughter duo, Carol and Claire Willcox, from Mark.

The Burnham flower shop had been run by the same owners for the past 20 years.

“The family wanted someone to carry on running it as a family business," Carol said.

“That’s what I and Claire are, we are a mother and daughter duo.”

But it's not just Carol and Claire who will make running the new branch a success, as other members of the family will help to carry out deliveries, and provide childcare for Claire's three kids.

"We use other members of the family to support us, whether it's childcare or delivery," Carol added.

They took over at Rosemary's in mid-March, and have so far been humbled by the reception from locals.

“We’ve been welcomed by the people of Burnham," Carol said.

“People are coming and going all the time."

Anne, a longstanding member of staff at Rosemary's under the previous owners who is well known among locals, will continue to work at the revamped shop.

Bouquet Florist Somerset in Burnham-on-Sea offers food hampers filled with West Country goods, fresh flowers which the shop receives on a daily basis, plant hampers, house plants, and some garden plants.

Other items on sale include chocolates, balloons, and candles, as well as local wines and champagnes, and same day delivery within a ten mile radius.

In addition to this, orders can be placed online through the shop's website, with no need to phone or even visit the store, if desired.

Carol and Claire have worked together at their existing branch on Union Street, in Cheddar, for the past ten years, but Carol has worked for the company for a total of 20 years.

With delivery within a ten mile radius of the Cheddar branch also, Bouquet Florist covers a vast area of Somerset, and also provides floristry services for weddings, funerals, events and local businesses outside of the delivery catchment area.
