RESIDENTS in Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge recently met with members of Avon and Somerset Police to campaign for a faster response to travellers.

Residents informed Acting Inspector Rose Green, Neighbourhood Directorate, of the issues that had occurred last year regarding travellers, and the residents' concern at the police response.

One local resident is now setting up a Neighbourhood Watch Group - leaflets will be distributed and residents have been urged to join the group by Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge Town Council, to help the information be circulated.

The Local Neighbourhood Policing Team will be arranging a drop-in event at the BAY Centre before the summer, for residents in the Cassis Close area to be provided with safety information.

Residents are reminded to report all incidents to the police through 101 or online or if in danger 999.

Councillor Millard, Mayor of Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge, who chaired the meeting said: “This was a useful meeting that provided reassurance to the residents that lessons had been learnt from last year.

"The police drop-in session will be a useful way for residents to share any concerns and get advice.

"The Neighbourhood Watch Group will also provide support for all residents”.
