ISLEPORT Lane in Highbridge is closed in order to undergo essential roadworks.

The closure starts from 487 metres north of the junction with Mark Road and will extend northeast for 101 metres.

It is to allow National Grid workers to lay ducts essential for power distribution.

The prohibition of traffic along this route was issued by Somerset Council under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

This was revealed in a public notice posted on the Public Notice Portal on April 16.

Roadworks are scheduled to commence today (April 22) and expected to be completed by April 26.

The works will be executed continuously for five days, with work hours from 12am to 11.59pm.

For those seeking an alternative route during the closure, information is available on One.Network, a free registration site that details closures which are more than two weeks ahead (https://one.network/?tm=137221745).

Questions regarding the works can be directed to National Grid at 01823 348 673 using reference number ttro767661N.

The reason for the order includes the likelihood of danger to the public or serious damage to the road during the execution of the works.
