Residents in Somerset are being invited to consider fostering so children in care can remain near their existing support networks.
Fostering in Somerset is appealing for more foster carers, emphasising the importance of keeping children connected to their schools, friends, and communities.
Cllr Heather Shearer, Somerset Council's lead member for children, families and education, said: "Every child deserves the chance to grow up feeling safe, supported and connected to the people and places that are important to them.
"Local foster carers play a vital role in helping children remain close to their schools, friendships and support networks during what can be a very difficult time in their lives."
Currently, around 700 children are in care across the county.
When children are unable to remain with their birth families, foster carers step in to provide safe, stable, and supportive homes.
More carers are needed to ensure children can stay in their local area.

Fostering can have a lifelong impact, offering children the care and encouragement they need to thrive.
Carers are required for both short-term and long-term placements and receive training, guidance, and financial support.
To help people explore fostering, Fostering in Somerset is hosting a series of free information sessions.
The relaxed events allow attendees to meet foster carers, hear first-hand experiences, and learn about the support available.
Cllr Shearer said: "We know many people think about fostering but are unsure whether it might be right for them.
"Our information sessions provide a welcoming opportunity to ask questions, meet foster carers and find out more about the difference fostering can make.
"There is no pressure or commitment, just the chance to explore whether fostering could be an option for you."
Attendees can enjoy a complimentary coffee and slice of cake while speaking with carers and the fostering team.
The next sessions will be held on Tuesday, September 15, in Wedmore; Tuesday, September 29, in Taunton; Tuesday, October 27, in Burnham-on-Sea; and Wednesday, November 18, in Wells.
