A popular Somerset venue near the M5 has announced what it described as its “last night”.
The Windmill Bar and Bistro is based at Edithmead Leisure Park, near Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge.
General manager Julie Simmons said she had decided to retire and thanked customers and staff for supporting the family-run business over recent years.
She said: “It is with mixed emotions that I am writing this. I have decided to take some time out and retire.
“Our Tidals Beach Party/New Year’s Eve Bash on Friday, October 30, will be our last night.
“To our many loyal customers, I would like to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for the continued support you have shown us over the last few years.
“Lastly, a massive thank you to every staff member, past and present. I couldn’t have done it without you.
“I will take many happy memories with me. It has been a blast.
“With love, Julie, Lucy and the team.”
The announcement described October 30 as the team’s last night, but did not confirm what would happen to the venue afterwards.
The Windmill describes itself as a family-run business committed to serving food and providing a friendly service to its customers.
It puts on events throughout the year, including live music, murder mysteries and dining experiences.
The venue’s website says it has built a reputation for its Sunday carvery, with loyal customers returning regularly.
Other options include an à la carte menu, with meals cooked to order and a selection designed to suit different tastes.
The site is situated just off junction 22 of the M5 and is promoted as a place to meet family and friends.
It serves everything from coffee and cake to three-course meals, alongside entertainment and special events.
The Windmill is located at Edithmead Leisure Park, Burnham-on-Sea. The team’s advertised last night will take place on Friday, October 30.
