SEDGEMOOR honoured fallen war heroes with remembrance services in Bridgwater, Burnham, and Highbridge on Sunday morning.

Two minutes of silence and processions remembered those in the armed forces who have made the greatest sacrifice of all.

Memorial services took place at St Mary's Church in Bridgwater, St John's Church in Highbridge and at the war memorial outside the hospital in Love Lane, Burnham.

Dignitaries gathered in King Square, Bridgwater and wreaths were laid before a march to St Mary's Church for the service, and a parade through the town centre and high street.

A special service was also held at Bawdrip Church featuring a central cross for people to lay their own tributes.

There was also a parade through the centre of Highbridge followed by a remembrance service and wreath laying ceremony at the town's war memorial.

Another short service will take place on Wednesday in Highbridge's Southwell House memorial gardens at 10.55am where Burnham and Highbridge Mayoress Christine Cooper will lay a wreath.
