BERROW is going head-to-head with a Devon village in a bid to secure a £50,000 cash bonanza for its young people.
Berrow Parish Council will be battling it out with its counterparts in Newton Poppleford for TV viewers' votes in the winner-takes-all Big Lottery - The People's Millions competition.
If Berrow receives more votes than its rival, the grant will be used to transform the village's old-fashioned play area into a safe, modern and challenging play environment.
Jenny Bentley, Berrow parish chairman, is spearheading the bid, and is urging people to back it.
She will also be appearing in a short video about the project, which will appear on the ITV West Country regional news programme on Monday, November 23.
She said: “Please look out for the posters and banners and please, please, please support our project by voting for us.
“There is a possibility that your television receives the ITV West regional news and therefore you will not see our project.
“Because of this, it is really important that you note the telephone number and vote for us anyway. Remember - you've got the power to make our project happen!
“Please also ask all your family and friends to support us by voting for our project. Every vote counts. It doesn't matter where they live.”
Voting lines will open on November 23 between 9am and midnight and people can vote up to ten times each.
The telephone number viewers need to phone will be released on the night and on posters and banners around Berrow.
VISIT this website on Monday, November 23, to find out the phone number YOU need to vote.
